The tech giant promotes transparent development in enterprise AI

At the technology summit, IBM's David Cox delivered a persuasive argument for open innovation in enterprise generative AI. Cox, VP of AI models and head at the collaborative research center, underscored the crucial nature of collaboration in innovation, especially in the present machine learning environment.
The IBM executive pointed out the complex nature of openness in AI, contesting the two-dimensional perception of the idea. He noted the growing ecosystem of transparent systems from multiple providers, including technology corporations, academic institutions, and nation-states.
However, he articulated worries about the nature of openness in various LLMs, observing that some deliver barely more than a collection of data points without openness in their development processes.
